Nowadays, Herman Jansen does what he has been doing best for generations - he produces drinks that make life more pleasant.
The story of Bobby's Schiedam Dry Gin begins when the Indonesian-born Jacobus Alfons, known to his friends and family as Bob or Bobby, emigrates to the Netherlands in 1950. He falls in love with Jenever quite quickly there, and then he starts experimenting with infusions, combining spices known to him from his youth with traditional Dutch recipes.
Bobby's Schiedam Dry Gin consists of eight botanicals that are distilled separately and then blended to create a unique flavor. The mixture is free of additives, sugars and extraction. Blending Indonesian spices and more traditional botanicals, Bobby's Schiedam Dry Gin has a complex flavor profile with the refreshing scent of lemongrass in the foreground. The initial aroma of Bobby's Schiedam Dry Gin is surprisingly floral with hints of wild rose, with lemon and lemongrass on its way to give it a fresh oil aroma. On the palate we can sense sweet rosehips as well as citrus-herbal lemongrass, the menthol tones of which are mixed with anise / dill character. You can also feel cloves and spices.
The finish is durable, with a clear dominance of juniper. Pepper-menthol notes are slowly giving way to basil and tarragon.
Hailed on the label as "the best of both worlds east and west, Bobby's Schiedam Dry Gin is incredibly smooth, bold and unique. It is an interesting experiment in which east and west meet, and the past meets the present. The bottle itself is also noteworthy, made of brown and gray glass, on which the traditional Indonesian Ikat pattern is printed.
To really appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into every bottle, we suggest trying pure gin first so you can taste all the botanicals. If you want to drink Bobby's Schiedam Dry Gin as a long Gin & Tonic drink, we recommend adding three cloves and a slice of orange.
Its uniqueness is also evidenced by the prestigious award:
- Bronze medal - IWSC 2014
- Wild Rose
- Anise Star
